NCNW Programs And Events Of The Denver Section

Annual Founders Day Harambee Brunch:
Is a joyful event for the members of NCNW-Denver Section. Harambee is our annual fundraising event.
This is also a time of celebration as we honor the life and legacy of our founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. We do this by honoring women and youth in our “own backyard” who exemplify the achievements and legacy set fourth by Dr. Bethune.

Living Portraits of African-American Women:
The Denver Section of the National Council of Negro Women and the Blair-Caldwell African-American Research Library honor the outstanding contributions of African-American Women.
During the Living Portraits events we also take the time to put the spotlight on the talents of our youth by showcasing their many talents during the program.

Community Service Events:
During the calendar year NCNW-Denver Sections support and sponsor many community events that support women of color and families on a local and national level. These include the Bethune Silver Tea, our annual Holiday Food Baskets for those in need and annual book drive.
In 2009 the Denver Section hosted it’s first “Fit-For-Life” workshop. This program was designed to reach youth and their parents and to teach them how to prepare and make healthy meal choices. This workshop is one of NCNW’s efforts to combat obesity and improve the health of youth and families.
